Solano CountyClean energy has emerged as a viable and necessary component of the nation’s energy supply. Clean Energy Cluster subsectors include solar, wind, biofuels, advanced battery storage, co-generation, and fuel cells.

The emerging clean energy sector in the greater East Bay has a critical mass of clean energy companies, world-class research institutions, entrepreneurial talent, a skilled workforce, and a strong network of specialized service providers. According to the February 2010 study, Innovating the Green Economy in California Regions, by the Center for Community Innovation (CCI) at UC Berkeley, the East Bay was the leading region in California in numbers of alternative fuels patents obtained between 2000 and 2008 with energy research and services firms employing more than 15,300 workers in the East Bay. Core clean energy companies employ more than 1,850 workers.

The Diablo Innovation Alliance offers a way to help accelerate market adoption and grow the clean energy sector by strengthening the relationships between industry members and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, while fostering the potential of this vitally important regional industry.
